Another Fun Distraction

I've just set up an Etsy shop, and I'm busy learning the ropes. At the same time, I'm trying to make more necklaces and build up my inventory. The last thing I need is to be starting new random projects. Nevertheless, I've been continuing to read art and craft books. This week I read Playing With Books: The Art of Upcycling, Deconstructing, and Reimagining the Book, by Jason Thompson. One project, "Basket Case," intrigued me because it was made using the paper folding technique that kids used to use for making gum-wrapper chains when my mom was little. I couldn't really understand how that would work to make a basket, so I felt compelled to try it. Here is the result.

Do I need a paper basket? No. Were there other projects I should have been working on? Yes. Was it still worth making this? Absolutely!
